The Las Vegas Sphere has finally shown, not just teased, the upgrades coming to The Wizard of Oz when the refreshed production debuts next Friday (Sept. 25). Producer Ben Grossmann puts it plainly in a new preview video: “It’s not enough to just recreate the land of Oz. You have to feel like you’re inside of it.”

The logic is simple. A 75‑minute loop that people willingly sit through more than once needs fresh experiences. So, the world’s most technologically advanced theater just made itself more technologically advanced.

It’s still the same movie experience—just with more of the room participating.

These six additions sit on top of the effects that have been running since opening day on Aug. 28, 2025: tornado winds, swirling debris, fog, haptic seats, fire bursts, falling apples, and the flying monkeys version 1.0.

Papanier has over 40 years of experience in the gaming industry, previously serving as CEO between February 2011 and October 2021 having first joined the company as COO in 2004.

Bally’s CEO Robeson Reeves thanked Mircheva for her contribution and expressed confidence in Papanier’s ability to ensure continuity during the transition.

Philip Pietras, 52, admitted to stealing from more than 170 people, many of whom are senior citizens who sought to limit the emotional and financial burdens placed on their loved ones by prepaying for their funerals. But instead of placing those funds, meant for caskets and burial services, in escrow accounts, Pietras pocketed the money to gamble.

Pietras accepted a plea deal from the state, and prosecutors expect him to enter a guilty plea on Oct. 23 and be formally sentenced on Jan. 22, 2027.

Under the terms of the state’s offer, Pietras will admit to stealing his clients’ money for his personal use. In exchange for his admission, the state has recommended a prison sentence of 7.5 years instead of 15 years, followed by five years of probation.
