The two join Amy Hind and Craig Williams, who pleaded guilty to these offences on 29 June 2026.

Sentencing for Lee, Lee and Hind is set for 23 October 2026 at Southwark Crown Court. Williams will be sentenced at a later date. The Gambling Commission has said trials for the remaining ten defendants will take place in September 2027 and January 2028.

The Commission launched its investigation into various reports of insider betting on the election date in June 2024 after Ladbrokes flagged a bet placed by Williams, who was recorded as a politically exposed person.

The Monday Powerball drawing had players competing for a jackpot of $314 million with a cash value of $133.8 million. In order to win, players had to correctly match all six winning numbers. The white winning numbers for the September 21 drawing were 2, 7, 9, 17, and 58. The red Powerball, on the other hand, was 20, while the Power Play multiplier stood at 2x.

Unfortunately, a jackpot win did not occur, although the game continued to award smaller prizes to players across the US and UK. In a press release dated 27 August, the DRC’s Ministry of Finance reminded gambling operators that Ordinance No. 25/293 formally transferred responsibility for regulating the sector from the Ministry of Sports and Leisure to its own remit.

In the Ministry of Finance’s view, this ended “any institutional ambiguity” over who should oversee the DRC’s gambling industry.

“The Ministry of Finance reaffirms its determination to drive the reform of the gambling and games of chance sector in accordance with government directives, while upholding legal certainty for operators, transparency in activities and the protection of the Public Treasury’s interests,” said the press release, signed by Alain Malata Kafunda, the chief of staff to the DRC minister of finance.
